The County tracks liability claims made by and against the County. Claims include third party liability claims, such as those filed against the County for injuries or property damage, as well as first party claims filed by the County, such as those involving theft from or damage to County property. The County has an internal goal to close 85% of claims within 60 days of the date they are assigned to an investigator. Some claims, including those involving lawsuits or bodily injuries, typically take longer to close.
