Race/Ethnicity Diversity of the Pierce County Workforce

Why is this a priority?

Pierce County is a diverse community, and we strive to foster a workforce and workplace culture that reflects the community in which we serve and live. In 2019, Pierce County launched a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative. Led by the Human Resources Department and County employees, the initiative will utilize input and resources from the community to promote a workplace culture that embraces, demonstrates, and celebrates the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

How are we doing?

Racial and ethnic diversity is one measure by which we are gauging our progress towards a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce. The charts below provide data on the racial/ethnic diversity of our management and overall workforce in comparison to Pierce County's population. The County workforce overview includes data from employees that chose to provide the information, including those that responded that they did not wish to identify their race/ethnicity.
